Healthy sleep habits: Following a heart attack, or event, you may feel anxious or emotional. That’s completely normal but can impact your ability to relax and get a good night’s rest. Establishing some new routines can help you relax.
If you’re having trouble sleeping, exercise during the day, avoid caffeine and try meditating. Also, try keeping a sleep journal of thoughts and feelings and then review it with your doctor at your next appointment. Your doctor may be able to prescribe a medication or a sleep aid supplement. Always check with your doctor before beginning any new medication or supplements.
Building a routine: Try to go to sleep and wake up at the same time each day. Establish a nighttime routine. Studies have shown that limiting electronics before bedtime helps increase melatonin production and improves sleep quality.
